Aashiyan: Breaking Down Music

Itti si hansi
Itti si khushi
Itta sa tukda chand ka
Khwabon ke tinkon se
Chal banayeinn aashiyaan

You have always been that person who is happy and satisfied by little things. You’ve never craved and urged for more, and get joyous by what you get. Remember those days where you would think that moon is following you while you would travel in the car with your dad and that ultimate utter feeling made you feel on the top of the world.

Dabe dabe paaon se
Aaye haule haule zindagi
Hothon pe puppy chadha ke
Hum taale laga ke chal
Gumsum tarane chupke chupke gaayein
Aadhi aadhi baatein ye
Aaja dil ki ye zameen
Thoda sa tera sa hoga
Thoda mera bhi hoga apna ye aashiyan

And now in spite you have grown up you still are kid at heart. You are ground to earth and still have that ‘find happiness in little things’ tendency in you. Materialistic things don’t entertain you the way handwritten letters and roses do. You don’t want fancy dates and sophisticated gifts, you are at you fullest with stargazing and dance in rain dates with your partner. Holding hands and having momos and pani-puri is your ideal type.

Naa ho chaar deewarein
Phir bhi jharokhe khule
Baadalon ke hothon pe
Shaakhein hari, pankha chale

Naa ho koi takraarein
Are masti thahaake chalein
Pyaar ke sikkon se mahine ka kharcha chale

You don’t want big houses, apartments and demand exotic jewellery from your lover, it’s the love, affection and care which keeps you both together building a home. A little money just to run the house keeps you both happy as you have learned to live with it, happily and not forcefully.

And that’s what we should all strive to be. Every coin has its two sides and looking at the positive one is the choice. There is so much in life to complain about or be grateful for. It is all about the matter of perspective. Be grateful for all that it was, all that is and all that shall be.
